Genies is looking for a Technical Artist Intern to join our R&D team this summer. Based at our headquarters in Los Angeles (Hybrid), you will work closely with a dedicated and talented team of Technical Artists and Engineers. Together, you will explore new concepts and technologies to further Genies’ mission of empowering users to develop their own avatar ecosystems. This position is at the crossroads of art and engineering, essential for providing valuable experiences for users and their avatars. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about creating high-quality visuals and has the technical foundation to help us build the next wave of digital identity.

What You’ll be Doing:

• Develop an in-depth understanding of the avatar technology landscape, with a focus on creating a foundational synthesis of annotated 3D data.
• Collaborate with both artists and engineers to refine new avatar content, ensuring it results in high-quality, annotated 3D data for AI applications.
• Partner with engineers to design and implement generative 3D creation tools that generate a diverse array of annotated 3D data for AI training.
• Communicate your project results by showcasing how the generated 3D data enhances AI model performance and supports various applications.

What You Should Have:

• Solid grasp of 3D content creation fundamentals, including modeling, texturing, materials, lighting, rigging and animation
• Practical understanding of mobile game development concepts
• Working knowledge of Houdini / Blender / Maya or other 3D creation tools
• Experience with one or more programming languages or frameworks, such as: Python, C++, C#, HLSL/GLSL
• Familiarity with Unity / Unreal or other real-time frameworks
• Strong initiative, highly organized with the ability to work independently

Starting Salary: $20 – $35 per hour
