ABOUT THE ROLE
SRE Engineer – Database Focus
Job Responsibilities:
- Database Stability Assurance & Operational Automation:
- Responsible for the deployment, monitoring, and optimization of AWS and ByteHouse (similar to ClickHouse) databases.
- Design and optimize database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data security.
- Participate in database capacity planning and resource tuning to improve query performance.
- Monitoring & Alerting System Development:
- Develop monitoring systems for databases, storage systems, and data pipelines.
- Set up Prometheus + Grafana to monitor MySQL, ByteHouse, and ETL tasks.
- Design database health checks (e.g., slow query analysis, lock analysis, performance bottlenecks) and automate alarm analysis.
- Maintain log collection and analysis systems (ELK, Loki, OpenTelemetry).
- Database CI/CD & Automated Operations:
- Participate in the CI/CD pipeline for database platforms and support automated MySQL deployment on AWS.
- Develop automated SQL audit tools, standardize SQL change processes, and reduce the risk of human errors.
- Develop self-healing scripts to automatically fix common database anomalies (e.g., high connection counts, disk overload).
Job Requirements:
Essential Skills:
- Familiar with Linux and Shell script development, with some experience in Python / Go / Java.
- Experience with Kubernetes + AWS, able to manage containerized database deployments on the cloud.
- Familiar with Prometheus + Grafana, with experience in building database monitoring and alerting systems.
- Proficient in MySQL and database optimization (indexing, partitioning, slow query optimization).
- Familiar with high-availability database solutions (MGR, master-slave replication, ProxySQL, TiDB experience is a plus).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with ClickHouse / ByteHouse, familiar with columnar storage optimization.
- Experience in database security (data encryption, access control, compliance auditing).
- Knowledge of Flink / Kafka, able to optimize database integration with streaming data.
