As a Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing innovative, simple, and easy-to-use solutions that create customer delight. You will contribute to a future-ready, high-quality, and performant codebase, directly impacting Cisco’s mission to transform the networking industry with intuitive, self-securing, and adaptive platforms. You are a self-sufficient individual who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, demonstrating flexibility and resiliency while working with geographically distributed teams.

What You’ll Do

• Build high-performant, highly scalable, complex, and distributed systems – end to end.
• Develop simple solutions to address complex problems.
• Contribute to a future-ready, high-quality, and performant codebase.
• Bring technical solutions and new product ideas to the leadership team through design review, pair programming, code review, and tech talks.
• Share technical solutions and product ideas with the broader team through design review, code review, proof-of-concepts, and show-and-tell sessions.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas to our technology, algorithms, and products.
• Work closely with development, test, and various cross-technology teams to design development strategies and plans, followed by designing and writing code reflecting product requirements and functionality.
• Collaborate with other functions such as Architects, Product Owners/Customers, and Quality Engineering to help prioritize, define, and implement features with the right quality.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or above) in engineering/computer science with an overall work experience of 5+ years.
• Strong experience in Java, Python, and GO or other modern programming languages/technologies.
• Adept in using AI tools like Copilot, Codex, etc., in design/development and testing.
• Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and SOA architectures.
• Experience in building large, asynchronous task systems, scalable distributed systems with a good understanding of microservices architecture and associated principles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Good interpersonal and communication skills; excellent team player.
• Experience with Docker or other configuration management tools.
• Hands-on experience with RESTful Webservices and Responsive web design patterns.
• Design and development skills in networking and network management domains (knowledge of TCP/IP, switching, routing), Netconf, SNMP, CIM/XML a plus.
• Expertise in Messaging Systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ.
