Software engineer: API/backend

Tally (tally.xyz) is looking for a talented engineer to join our growing remote team in the Americas time zone. At Tally, we’re on a mission to enable millions of stakeholders share control over protocols that govern billions of dollars in value.

Tally builds governance solutions so that many people can share control over key software protocols like Arbitrum, Uniswap, ZKsync, Wormhole, and ENS on EVM and Solana blockchains. As a product- and engineering-driven startup, we are deeply focused on improving the user experience. To do this, we need to both understand the current capabilities of blockchain tech and anticipate where it’s headed in the coming years. We have a culture of teaching and learning from each other. Our team is fully remote, but based in the American time zones. Instead of having offices, we work remotely and regularly travel to meet up in-person. We do both team retreats and go to big crypto conferences to meet other people in the space and to keep up with all the cool stuff people are doing.

What you’ll do:

• Build a data pipeline in Go
• Build a GraphQL API in Go
• Deploy those services to Kubernetes clusters in GCP
• Communicate about requirements and engineering tradeoffs to other members of the team
• Explore and use AI development tools to ship better systems
• Help product and design properly scope stories and understand engineering costs
• Continuously improve internal processes, both API tooling and – more importantly – human processes
• Review and provide feedback on code written by your colleagues

What we’re looking for:

• Experience with backend web, API or data pipeline development
• Ability to own, build and operate key backend services
• Strong written communicator
• Gracious teacher
• Enthusiastic learner

Nice to have:

• Experience with Go
• Startup experience
• Experience with EVM indexing patterns like RPC calls and event logs
• Familiarity with blockchain concepts like transactions, mining and smart contracts
