Highline is a fully remote company for U.S.-based candidates with a preference for the East Coast or Central Time Zones for this position. Please note that we are not currently able to offer visa sponsorship.
What you’ll be doing
We’re seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build the infrastructure that powers Highline’s API and systems. You may be a fit if you are passionate about the intersection of hard distributed system problems and real-world business problems, enabling consumers to pay their bills directly from their paycheck.
Design, build, and maintain APIs, backend services, and infrastructure across our engineering stack
Integrate with external systems like payroll providers and banking partners to bring real-time financial data into Highline’s platform
Evolve and maintain our payments engine, which orchestrates paycheck-linked payments and settles funds across a growing network of lenders
Shape the underlying architecture for new financial products and ensure long-term system reliability and scalability
Foster a culture of high engineering standards, thoughtful planning, and continuous improvement
What we are looking for
5 – 7 years of professional software development experience
Previous fintech experience required
Experience developing solutions in Golang
Enjoy and have experience building scalable backend infrastructure
Experience building high-quality, developer-centric API products
Experience working with transactional databases and caching systems
Hold yourself and others to a high bar when working with production systems
Take pride in working on projects to successful completion involving a wide variety of technologies and systems

Compensation and Benefits
Salary range for this position is $150k – $170k + equity
