About the team

The Fiat Rails Engineering team is the backbone of Paxos’ financial infrastructure, responsible for building and maintaining fiat infrastructure for the entire platform. Areas of focus include expanding our payment rail network to support new methods of value transfer, establishing and maintaining integrations with global banking partners, and developing our platform’s fiat payment APIs. Our team works at the intersection of traditional finance and modern technology, building scalable solutions that enable seamless fiat transaction handling for our clients.

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Fiat Rails team, you’ll help architect and build next-generation financial infrastructure that processes billions of dollars in annual transaction volume and supports our multi-billion dollar tokenization infrastructure. You’ll work on complex challenges including real-time payment processing, integrating with global banking partners, and building scalable APIs that enable instant money movement. This role offers the opportunity to directly impact how the world’s leading financial institutions onboard into the crypto ecosystem.

What you’ll do

• Design and implement scalable microservices for processing fiat transactions, ensuring high throughput and reliability
• Build robust APIs that enable seamless integration with banking partners and internal systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement new features for fiat money movement
• Optimize existing systems for performance, scalability and maintainability
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy for the team’s roadmap
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices across the team

About you

• 5+ years of experience building and maintaining production services in a high-scale environment
• Proven track record of writing high-quality, well-tested code
• Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams
• Strong expertise in distributed systems design and microservices architecture
• Deep understanding of API design principles and best practices
• Experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and containerization technologies
• Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms and system design
• Demonstrated interest in learning and adopting new technologies
