Senior Rust Exchange Engineer (Remote – US)

Derive is the largest DeFi options exchange in crypto by volume, with over $30B in notional volumes settled to this date. The goal is to be THE place to trade crypto options by providing the most competitive prices, a buttery user experience and decentralized risk / custody. The team consists of ex-Coinbase, Meta, Apple engineers and traders from top market making firms.

Job Description:

The team is looking for a senior level engineer that will lead the design and execution of bold / 10x ideas. You’ll join a small, high-ownership back-end team that values technical excellence and the freedom to shape critical systems from the ground up. The back-end team owns the end-to-end trading system, market data infra and smart contract settlement. Our mission is to build best-in-class infrastructure to support (1) high-performance trading (2) real-time market data and (3) blockchain-based settlement for all on-chain options.

Location: fully remote, preferred timezones North America and Asia Pacific

Day-to-Day:

• Reducing order latency, increase throughput, and improve reliability of our core trading system
• Develop our market and user data platforms (orderbooks, data warehousing, analytics)
• Add complex user and professional market maker trading features
• Opportunity to design completely new, crypto-native trading / settlement systems

Technical Requirements:

• 3+ years of professional SWE experience
• Built and shipped at least one exceptional software product into the wild with real users
• Strong knowledge of systems languages (e.g. Rust, C++, C)
• Experience building latency / throughput sensitive, multithreaded systems

Nice-to-have:

• Experience designing latency sensitive, high uptime systems such as storage engines, brokers, consensus nodes, etc)
• Experience with maintaining / deploying distributed systems with k8s, terraform, helm, gitops.
• Experience trading / working on options / futures / perpetuals
