Why Join Us?
At Trojan, we’re pushing the boundaries of on-chain trading technology. Joining our team offers you the chance to work on products that already serve a large and active user base, collaborating with top-tier engineers in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Working at Trojan Trading means having fast paced releases with your work being live in the hands of tens of thousands of users as soon as it’s complete.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a Senior Platform Engineer with strong Kubernetes operations experience to lead our transition from AWS-managed services to workloads running on EKS. Over time, this role will also help reduce AWS dependency and make parts of the platform portable to other infrastructure providers, potentially including Hetzner.
This is not only a CI/CD or application deployment role. We need someone who has operated production Kubernetes environments, understands stateful workloads, and can own infrastructure decisions end to end.
Key Responsibilities
  • Platform Migration: Lead the transition from AWS-managed services and existing cloud infrastructure toward EKS-based workloads, with a longer-term goal of reducing AWS lock-in where appropriate.
  • Infrastructure Architecture: Design and maintain high-availability, low-latency infrastructure, initially on AWS/EKS, while keeping future portability to other providers in mind.
  • Cloud Operations: Manage cloud resources, load balancers, autoscaling groups, and containerized workloads. Ensure cost efficiency, resilience, and smooth scaling as trading volumes increase.
  • Automation: Develop and manage infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, or similar) to ensure consistent, reproducible deployments.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Management: Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable fast and reliable deployments.
  • Observability & Reliability: Own monitoring, alerting, and performance visibility across the stack using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog. Drive initiatives to improve uptime, latency, and fault recovery.
Requirements
  • Technical Requirements:
    • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Cloud Infrastructure roles.
    • Production experience operating at least one stateful or data infrastructure system in Kubernetes. Kafka/RedPanda or Postgres are the strongest signals. ClickHouse or Flink are also highly relevant. Spark and Trino/Presto count if you operated the platform, not merely submitted jobs or wrote queries.
    • Deep experience with AWS and production Kubernetes, especially EKS. ECS experience is useful, but Kubernetes operational experience is required.
    • Strong background in Terraform or other IaC tools.
    • Experience managing CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins).
    • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, load balancing, and microservices orchestration.
  • Performance & Scale Mindset:
    • Proven ability to design infrastructure for high throughput, low-latency workloads, and high-frequency data systems.
    • Experience tuning cloud and containerized workloads for optimal performance.
  • We are not looking for someone who has only deployed applications to an existing Kubernetes cluster; we need someone who has operated, debugged, upgraded, or owned Kubernetes infrastructure in production.
  • Prior experience with performance-critical web or trading systems.
  • Pride: We look for people who take deep pride and responsibility in the products they build. Crypto moves at breakneck speed, and only the most driven, fast-moving teams succeed.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Strong communication skills to work effectively within a cross-functional team.
    • Experience working within a mid-sized engineer team.
Nice-To-Haves
  • Experience working with crypto trading platforms, DeFi protocols, or on-chain infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Solana RPCs, indexing nodes, or validator management.
  • Knowledge of data streaming or real-time analytics pipelines.
  • Passion or experience in on-chain trading; being a part-time trader on Solana is a plus.
What We Offer
  • Remote Flexibility: Work from anywhere on your schedule.
  • Challenging Projects: Solve complex problems with cutting-edge technology in the trading space.
  • Impactful Role: Shape backend systems powering one of the largest trading platforms on the market and shaping the experience of tens of thousands of daily users.
  • Collaborative Culture: Join a team that values innovation, efficiency, and collaboration.
Compensation/Culture
The overall market range for roles at Trojan Trading is typically $250k – $500k annually. This market range is based on total compensation. Trojan Trading has a culture that is built upon meritocracy, high-intensity output, and personal growth.
