Our mission
We’re making Africa the first cashless continent.
In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That’s for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.
We’re solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don’t always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across 9 countries and are growing fast.
Our goal is to make Africa the first cashless continent and that’s where you come in…
How you’ll help us achieve it
Wave is now the largest financial institution in Senegal, with over 7 million users. And, we’re still in the early days of our product roadmap and potential impact on people’s everyday lives.
Do you enjoy working with people and supporting colleagues to develop? Then this could be the role for you. We are looking for a Senior Learning and Development Specialist to join our team in Senegal and support our global L&D activities.
In this role, you’ll;
- Create and deliver tailored learning solutions: Design and facilitate engaging learning programs focused on developing leadership, coaching, and performance management skills for Support Group Leads (GLs), Regional Leads (RLs) and other Wave leads. These programs will strengthen their ability to lead high-performing teams and deliver results.
- Organize and manage management development programs: Structure and maintain a comprehensive learning roadmap for mid-level leaders, hosted in our LMS, that evolves with the changing needs of our operations teams. Ensure programs remain accessible, relevant, and action-oriented.
- Ensure learning quality and consistency: Maintain high learning standards by aligning materials with Wave’s leadership principles, customer-centric culture, and operational excellence standards. Seek feedback from senior managers and stakeholders to continuously refine programs.
- Drive adoption of learning and coaching culture: Champion continuous learning by encouraging GLs and RLs to model learning behaviors, coach their teams effectively, and integrate development conversations into regular performance reviews.
- Collaborate with the People and Operations leadership teams: Partner closely with People Partners, Ops Enablement, and country leaders to align leadership development initiatives with business goals. Act as the bridge between the L&D team and operational leadership.
- Support new manager onboarding: Work with functional leaders to develop structured onboarding journeys for newly promoted GLs, RLs and other leads, ensuring they acquire the knowledge and leadership confidence needed to succeed within their first 90 days.
- Collect and analyze management learning data: Track participation, feedback, and effectiveness of leadership programs through the L&D dashboard. Use this data to inform future learning strategies and demonstrate the impact of management development initiatives.
- Manage training records and certifications: Ensure that learning progress, attendance, and certifications for managers are accurately recorded in our systems, maintaining visibility and compliance.
- Provide LMS administration and support: Partner with teams to ensure seamless access to leadership resources, mentorship materials, and performance support tools within our learning platform.
- Foster open communication and feedback loops: Create spaces for GLs and RLs to share experiences and feedback about their leadership challenges. Use these insights to improve training content and foster peer learning across teams.
- Embody and promote a leadership growth mindset: Serve as a role model for continuous learning, resilience, and adaptive leadership. Encourage curiosity, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration among mid-level leaders.
