About CookUnity
Food has lost its soul to modern convenience. And with it, has lost the power to nourish, inspire, and connect us. So in 2018, CookUnity was founded as the first-of-its-kind platform that connects the world with the source of truly great food: chefs. Today, CookUnity delivers 35 million meals a year from the industry’s best chefs to homes all over the country. Fresh. Ready-to-eat. And crafted with the passion that nourishes body and soul.
Unwilling to stop there, CookUnity is expanding beyond delivery to become an ever-innovating marketplace focused on our singular mission: empower Chefs to nourish the world.
If that mission has you hungry in more ways than one, you’ve found the right job posting.
About The Team:
Fraîche is CookUnity’s premium smart fridge platform for workplaces, providing fresh, chef-crafted meals, snacks, and drinks right in the office with 24/7 availability. Employees can browse a diverse menu on the Fraîche mobile app and use it to unlock the IoT-enabled fridge and grab their food – no pre-ordering required. As part of CookUnity’s B2B division (CookUnity for Business), Fraîche extends the company’s chef-led dining experience into offices, transforming how people eat at work.
We are seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer with solid Flutter / FlutterFlow experience to join the Fraîche team. In this role, you will maintain and evolve our front-end products – including the Flutter-based Fraîche mobile app, internal Progressive Web Apps for operations, and customer-facing interfaces. You’ll work on innovative, hardware-aware features that blend software with IoT hardware (smart fridges) to deliver seamless user experiences. If you are excited about front-end development, automation, and building products that bridge the digital and physical worlds, this role is for you!
Responsibilities:
- Develop & Improve Front-Ends: Build new features and enhance existing functionality on our Flutter mobile application and related PWA front-ends. Ensure a high-quality, intuitive UX across both consumer-facing apps and internal tools.
- Collaborate on Migration Strategy: Work with the team to plan and gradually implement a potential migration/integration of front-ends to React and React Native, aligning with CookUnity’s broader B2B tech stack. Be open to adopting new frameworks and best practices as the platform evolves.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with backend and full-stack engineers across B2B (including Fraîche) to integrate APIs and ensure smooth end-to-end functionality. Work with product managers and operations teams to refine requirements and improve user workflows.
- Hardware & IoT Integration: Implement front-end solutions that interact with our smart fridge hardware – for example, optimizing the in-app scanner feature for fridge unlocks and real-time inventory updates. Bring creative ideas to make fridge-user interactions more seamless and automated.
- UX & Workflow Enhancement: Gather feedback from users (office employees, operations staff) and iterate on the UI/UX of our apps. Streamline processes like restocking workflows in the ops PWA or the in-app purchase flow for end users, continually improving usability and efficiency.
- Quality & Best Practices: Write clean, maintainable code with proper state management. Participate in code reviews and ensure high performance and responsiveness of all front-end components. Contribute to testing, documentation, and continuous deployment of the front-end apps as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Flutter Experience: Senior-level developer with multiple production experiences building and deploying Flutter applications (published on Google Play and/or App Store). While 2+ years of Flutter is ideal, we value demonstrated ownership of features and delivery in production environments over strict time-based criteria.
- API & State Management: Proficiency in consuming RESTful APIs and managing app state mobile apps & PWA.
- Front-End Fundamentals: Solid understanding of UI design principles, responsive layouts, and performance optimization on mobile. Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
- Adaptability: Interest or exposure to web/mobile frameworks like React and React Native, and willingness to learn new technologies that align with our stack.
- Team Collaboration: Good communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams. Ability to collaborate with product, design, and backend engineers to deliver features from concept to release.
- Language Skills: Intermediate or higher proficiency in English (written and spoken), comfortable working in an international, distributed team environment.
Preferred Requirements:
- PWA & Web App Development: Experience building Progressive Web Apps or responsive web front-ends (e.g. using Flutter Web or JavaScript frameworks like React). Understanding of how to create app-like experiences on the web.
- IoT/Hardware Integration: Familiarity with applications that interact with hardware or IoT devices. Enthusiasm for connecting software with physical products – bonus if you’ve worked on projects involving scanners, MQTT, RFID/NFC, or smart devices.
- Agile & Remote Work: Comfortable with agile development methodologies and asynchronous collaboration. Experience using tools like Jira/Trello for task tracking and Slack/Meet for remote communication.
- Continuous Improvement: A proactive mindset toward improving code quality and developer experience. Experience with CI/CD pipelines for front-end apps and automated testing is a plus.
- Startup Mindset: Thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Previous experience in a startup or product-focused team where you wore multiple hats is advantageous.
