As our Senior Backend Engineer, you will be the primary architect and developer responsible for evaluating, redesigning, and implementing our backend to ensure scalability, efficiency, and integration capabilities. You’ll work closely with frontend engineers to build well-structured APIs and help shape the technical direction of our backend systems. Given our size, this role requires an independent and strategic thinker who can make long-term decisions about code and technology structure.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and analyze our current backend to identify scalability and performance bottlenecks.
- Design and implement a new backend system using a tech stack that ensures scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Develop APIs to support client applications and integrate them with the frontend (React Native).
- Ensure efficient data retrieval, handling large datasets in a way that optimizes performance and reduces latency.
- Implement authentication, security best practices, and data protection measures.
- Integrate with external customer systems and third-party services as needed.
- Monitor and maintain backend performance, debugging issues, and optimizing workflows.
- Make key technical decisions, setting the foundation for future backend development.
Requirements:
- Strong experience in backend development with a track record of designing scalable systems.
- Proficiency in backend frameworks and databases (e.g., Node.js, Go, PostgreSQL, or other scalable solutions).
- Experience with API design, RESTful endpoints, and server side events.
- Ability to handle large-scale data storage and retrieval efficiently.
- Familiarity with authentication systems, security best practices, and role-based access control.
- Experience integrating backend services with frontend applications, preferably in a React Native environment.
- Comfortable working on a small team and making long-term architectural decisions.
Nice to have:
- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Basic frontend experience to assist with API integration and UI-related tasks.
