Nym has launched its flagship B2C product, NymVPN, and we’re now looking for a Senior Android Developer to take full ownership of Android development at Nym. In this pivotal role, you’ll be at the forefront of bringing world-class privacy technology to hundreds of thousands of users around the globe. As the literal tip of the spear, your work will directly empower people using Android devices to reclaim their digital privacy—especially in regions where it matters most.
In your first month, you might:
• Take full ownership of the Nym VPN Android app, diving into the codebase and planning out key improvements.
• Review the current Google Play Store setup and implement best practices for compliance, performance, and visibility.
• Begin addressing critical maintenance and upgrades, especially around networking and VPN performance.
• Collaborate with the wider team to ensure seamless integration with backend services and multi-platform support.
• Audit and improve existing WireGuard and networking configurations within the app.
• Plan and implement a roadmap for new features, bug fixes, and performance tuning.
• Lead development and maintenance of the Nym VPN Android app.
• Own the entire Android codebase, from architecture to release.
• Implement and optimize VPN functionality using WireGuard and related protocols.
• Ensure stability, performance, and security across a large-scale user base.
• Manage Play Store deployments, updates, and compliance.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams across backend, DevOps, and product.
• Monitor app performance, user feedback, and crash analytics to drive improvements.
• 5+ years of professional Android development experience.
• Proven track record of building and shipping apps with 100,000+ users.
• Expert in Kotlin, with strong Android SDK knowledge.
• Deep experience working with VPNs, particularly WireGuard integration.
• Experience managing Google Play Store releases and compliance workflows.
• Ability to work independently and take full ownership of Android at Nym.
• Strong understanding of Android networking, background tasks, and battery optimization.
• Passion for privacy, internet freedom, and open-source tech.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for mobile, app analytics, and user telemetry.
• Previous experience working on privacy-focused or Web3 apps.
