The Opportunity: Architect, Model, and Build the Core of DeFi Innovation

As a Quant Developer at Perena, you will be a vital member of our core team, directly influencing the design, implementation, and optimization of our groundbreaking blockchain protocols through the lens of quantitative finance. This is an exceptional opportunity to leverage your deep technical expertise in both quantitative modeling and low-level protocol development to build high-performance DeFi solutions, contribute meaningfully to open-source, and leave a lasting impact on our technology stack. What You’ll Do: Key Responsibilities

• Quantitative Model Implementation: Translate sophisticated quantitative research findings and financial models (e.g. for stablecoin pegging, AMM efficiency, yield optimization, risk management, capital allocation) into robust on-chain protocols.

• Data Analysis & Backtesting Infrastructure: Build and maintain tooling and infrastructure for comprehensive quantitative analysis, rigorous backtesting of on-chain strategies, and real-time performance monitoring of live DeFi protocols.

• Strategy Enhancement: Continuously research, simulate, and implement improvements to existing quantitative models and protocol mechanics to maximize capital efficiency, minimize slippage, and enhance yield generation for our users.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Protocol Engineering team to ensure robust integration and efficient deployment.

• System Design & Architecture: Contribute to the architectural design of Perena’s quantitative systems and protocol components, ensuring scalability, security, and high-performance in a low-latency environment.

• Security & Testing: Implement rigorous testing frameworks, participate actively in security audits, and champion best practices for building secure, reliable, and mathematically sound quantitative smart contracts.

• Innovation & Research: Stay at the forefront of developments in quantitative finance, decentralized finance, and blockchain technology, particularly on Solana, proposing and implementing novel solutions to complex financial and engineering challenges.

Requirements

• Educational Background: Strong academic background (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in a highly quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Financial Engineering, Physics, or Quantitative Finance.

• Quant Development Experience: Proven experience (3+ years) as a Quant Developer, Quantitative Researcher, or similar role, with a strong track record of building and deploying quantitative models and/or trading systems.

• Programming Expertise: Strong command of Python for data analysis, statistical modeling, simulation, and tooling. Bonus for points for Rust or C++.

• Blockchain & DeFi Acumen: Deep understanding of blockchain fundamentals, smart contracts, and decentralized finance protocols (e.g., AMMs, lending/borrowing protocols, stablecoin mechanics, derivatives). Direct practical experience with Solana development is highly preferred.

• Quantitative Skills: Practical experience applying quantitative finance concepts, including but not limited to stochastic calculus, time series analysis, numerical optimization methods, financial modeling, and risk management.

• Problem-Solving: Outstanding analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail, performance optimization, and security considerations.

• Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment, translating complex technical and quantitative concepts into clear, concise communication for diverse audiences.

Bonus Points

• Direct experience contributing to the development or architecture of Decentralized Exchanges (DEXs), Automated Market Makers (AMMs), or other high-throughput trading infrastructure.

• Active contributions to open-source blockchain or DeFi projects.

• Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a quantitative discipline.

• Experience with large-scale data analysis and numerical libraries in a production environment.

• Experience with Solana.
