Your Impact

We are seeking a motivated Platform/Security Engineer Intern (with passion for security) Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in security concepts and a passion for applying their skills to real-world problems. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, contribute to exciting projects, and work alongside experienced engineers.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to significant internal initiatives, collaborating closely with our teams on projects such as enhancing internal services built with AWS CDK (Python) and AWS, which includes refining the AWS base setup, VPC configurations, and centralized logging pipelines. Additionally, you could be involved in improving our internal security monitoring and alerting systems.

We emphasize a cooperative approach, meaning you won’t be assigned a project to work on in isolation; instead, you’ll actively partner with us on ongoing team projects

What you’ll do:

  • Test-Driven development (TDD) of AWS infrastructure while using AWS CDK in Python

  • Investigating, triaging and resolving reported security alerts from internal system

  • Improving/updating security detection logic written in Python (creating/updating allow-lists for legitimate activities, covering new use-cases etc.)

  • Collaborate closely with software engineering teams and other internal Cisco teams to understand project requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Information Security, Computer Science or a related field.

  • Proficient in English.

  • Any level of experience with programming languages (Python, Java, C or Similar)

Preferred Requirements:

  • Basic understanding or coursework in software engineering is a plus.

  • Strong logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

  • Enthusiasm for completing tasks and making projects successful.

  • Hands on experience with Python and AWS will boost the start.

  • Security mindset (be eager to learn about cybersecurity area).

  • Ability to learn new things, attention to detail and responsibility
