About Us

Sei is the first parallelized layer 1 blockchain. By re-writing the most widely adopted execution environment in Web3, Sei is setting a new standard in blockchain performance and scalability. Apps on Sei benefit from both the performance of web2 and the decentralization and sovereignty of web3. For more detailed information visit Sei’s official website.

As an organization dedicated to advancing blockchain technology, Sei Development Foundation drives adoption, supports the community, and partners with developers to bring groundbreaking applications to life. Our vision is to create a decentralized ecosystem that democratizes access to blockchain technology while advancing the broader crypto community.

About the Role

We’re looking for an NYC Lead to elevate Sei’s presence at the intersection of media, culture, and institutional finance. This role will transform Sei’s Manhattan headquarters into a hub for high-impact storytelling — hosting events, building relationships with top-tier media, and driving narratives that position Sei as the preferred settlement layer for global finance.

You’ll work closely with Sei’s leadership, growth, and communications teams to craft stories that resonate across crypto-native and mainstream audiences, while cultivating one cornerstone institutional partnership that embodies Sei’s mission. This is a high-visibility role for a media-savvy operator who understands how narratives, networks, and experiences converge to shape perception. The ideal candidate blends New York media instincts with crypto-native depth — capable of making Sei the chain everyone in finance is talking about.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Sei’s media strategy and NYC narrative, driving visibility in crypto, tech, and mainstream finance outlets. Forge a clear, institutional-grade positioning by shaping stories around Sei’s technology, vision, and leadership in stablecoins, RWAs, and onchain market structure.

  • Cultivate strong relationships with influential journalists, editors, podcast hosts, and cultural amplifiers. Serve as the primary media contact in NYC, ensuring Sei’s voice and narrative are amplified across key publications and industry channels.

  • Conceptualize, plan, and host a bespoke calendar of high-impact events at Sei’s NYC headquarters. This includes intimate press salons, protocol summits, investor dinners, and other forums that bring together media, investors, and thought leaders to spotlight Sei’s innovations.

  • Identify and nurture a cornerstone institutional partnership. Develop a compelling narrative and media “halo” around this relationship, showcasing Sei’s role in bridging traditional finance and crypto-native ecosystems.

  • Pitch timely, high-value stories that highlight Sei’s ecosystem developments, strategic partnerships, and leadership in emerging areas like tokenized stablecoins and on-chain real-world assets (RWAs).

  • Draft and refine all external communications with polish and consistency – including press releases, op-eds, blog posts, talking points, and social media copy – ensuring every message is on-brand and resonates with technical and mainstream audiences alike.

  • Track media coverage and sentiment, providing analysis and insights to Sei leadership to inform narrative decisions. Use data to advise on positioning, identify opportunities or risks in media portrayal, and refine ongoing strategy.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Growth, Communications, Product, and Partnerships teams. Align messaging with product milestones, marketing campaigns, and partnership announcements to present a cohesive story to the public.

  • Coordinate with outside PR agencies, contractors, or advisors when needed, ensuring they are leveraged effectively to enhance Sei’s media presence and narrative goals.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in media, strategic communications, or editorial roles – ideally within crypto, fintech, or institutional finance sectors. Proven track record of crafting and placing stories that shape market perception and outcomes.

  • Deep understanding of narrative leverage in Web3 and crypto. You know how to tell a story that positions a technology or company at the heart of broader industry shifts (e.g. institutional adoption of stablecoins, real-world assets on-chain, etc.).

  • Robust personal network among NYC media professionals, including crypto and financial press and tech reporters. You’re already on first-name terms with journalists who cover blockchain, fintech, and innovation.

  • Ability to host and lead events with confidence and polish. You excel at creating engaging experiences that reflect brand values, from speaker selection to moderating panels or dinners.

  • Outstanding writing and editorial judgment. You can distill complex technical topics into clear, compelling narratives for both technical and mainstream audiences.

  • Comfortable working autonomously and executing under ambiguity. As a true builder, you thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments – you know how to roll up your sleeves and get things done with limited direction.

  • Entrepreneurial “builder” mindset with a bias for action. We want someone who relishes shaping processes and narratives from the ground up, and who can adapt quickly as Sei grows.

Nice to haves

  • Former journalist or newsroom experience, especially in tech, finance, or crypto media.

  • Familiarity with investor and regulatory media cycles, and experience with institutional communications.

  • Active presence in crypto-native channels (e.g. Twitter, Telegram, Discord) and a passion for Web3 storytelling.

  • Experience working in or adjacent to protocol foundations, blockchain startups, or high-growth tech companies.
