TRM Labs is a blockchain intelligence company committed to fighting crime and creating a safer world. By leveraging blockchain data, threat intelligence, and advanced analytics, our products empower governments, financial institutions, and crypto businesses to combat illicit activity and global security threats. At TRM, you’ll join a mission-driven, fast-paced team made up of experts in law enforcement, data science, engineering, and financial intelligence, tackling complex global challenges daily. Whether analyzing blockchain data, developing cutting-edge tools, or collaborating with global organizations, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact.
As a Legal Counsel, you will join an experienced, close-knit team that counsels across all aspects of TRM’s global, rapidly-growing business. The team provides timely, ethically-sound, and commercially-savvy advice on matters including corporate governance, contract negotiations, product counseling, and overall risk management. Success is measured by how effectively and efficiently the Legal team empowers others throughout TRM to make complex decisions in the best interests of the company.
The impact you will have here:
- Review, draft, negotiate, and finalize commercial agreements to support our business clients ranging from sales to product, including but not limited to MNDAs, Platform Evaluations, Customer Agreements, consulting agreements, and vendor agreements.
- With internal support, update privacy and other compliance documentation on an ongoing basis, and handle external communications and requests.
- Assist in identifying key issues and legal risks for the broader TRM business and help advise clients on how to proceed in various scenarios, many of which are novel and precedent-setting.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the IT/Security, Finance, and People Teams to ensure compliance with contracts across all of TRM’s markets across various geographies.
- Support the Go To Market (“GTM”) team with ad hoc sales-related legal requests in a prompt and timely manner.
- Support operational projects between GTM and Legal to ensure proper data capture and process flow, identifying and improving processes to minimize friction in closing deals.
- Assist and own legal operations projects including creating streamlines processes and improving efficiencies to cut down on administrative tasks.
What we’re looking for:
- 3-5 years’ experience working in a transactional practice in-house, at a reputable law firm, or at a government agency. Tech or web3/blockchain industry experience is not required but helpful.
- Experience negotiating technical SaaS agreements. Experience with public sector procurement processes is a plus.
- Effective communicator, self-starter, willing to learn, and humble.
- Service-oriented and client-friendly in a fast-paced dynamic environment. A successful candidate will need to meet tight deadlines and properly manage client expectations.
- Must have executive presence to successfully negotiate with outside vendors, outside counsel, internal and external clients, etc.
- J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school, with current bar admission in at least one U.S. state.
