KYC Lead

Role Overview

The KYC Lead will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring quality control in the KYC process for both retail and institutional clients. This involves performing detailed checks on KYC documentation, managing the analysis of client data, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (including those pertaining to Anti-Money Laundering and Crypto Assets). The successful candidate will be expected to create and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for KYC checks and onboarding processes, and work closely with both the operations team and compliance department to mitigate any risks related to money laundering or other financial crimes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Control for Retail Client KYC Process

Document Review & Validation: Perform sanity checks and verify that KYC documents submitted by retail clients meet all legal and regulatory requirements.

Operational Oversight: Work with the operations team to ensure that KYC documents are reviewed, validated, and processed efficiently.

SOP Development: Create, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the retail client onboarding process, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.

Quality Assurance: Regularly audit retail client KYC documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

Systems Management: Use internal systems and tools to track and monitor the KYC process for retail clients, making recommendations for process improvement when necessary.

2. Onboarding Checks for Institutional Clients

In-depth KYC Analysis: Review detailed KYC documentation for institutional clients, including but not limited to source of funds, corporate documents, and purpose of transactions.

Compliance Monitoring: Analyze the provided documentation to assess potential risks of money laundering and ensure that the client’s operations are in line with the firm’s compliance policies.

Risk Mitigation: Identify red flags or suspicious activity during the KYC review process and flag for further investigation by the compliance team.

SOP Development: Establish and refine procedures for institutional client onboarding, creating detailed workflows to streamline compliance checks.

Collaboration with Compliance Team: Work closely with the compliance and legal teams to ensure that all KYC requirements are met, and transactions are thoroughly vetted to prevent illegal activities.

3. Process Improvement & Documentation

Continuous Improvement: Suggest improvements to the KYC processes based on industry best practices, feedback, and emerging regulatory requirements.

Reporting & Documentation: Ensure thorough documentation of all client KYC processes and communicate any findings or concerns to senior management.

Regulatory Awareness: Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to KYC and onboarding procedures in the crypto industry.

Skills & Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in onboarding, KYC, or compliance within the financial services or cryptocurrency industry.Strong understanding of KYC and anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, especially in the context of crypto exchanges and digital assets.

Technical Skills: Familiarity with KYC software tools and platforms.Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to assess financial documents for compliance and accuracy.Analytical Skills: Strong analytical thinking with attention to detail.Ability to detect potential risks or red flags in client data.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients, operations teams, and senior management.Ability to create clear and comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Problem-Solving: Proactive in identifying issues and suggesting solutions to improve processes.Strong decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with cryptocurrency exchanges and digital asset regulations.Experience working with institutional clients and understanding of corporate KYC processes.

Certifications: AML/KYC certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA Diploma) are a plus.

Language Proficiency: Multilingual candidates are preferred to cater to our global client base.
