Job Description

The Head of Product Development will be responsible for overseeing Cboe Australia’s strategic product development initiatives. This includes managing the existing product portfolio and driving the development of new products in alignment with the Cboe Australia business plan. The role requires collaboration with various internal departments such as Sales, Technology and Operations as well as Legal and Compliance to ensure the successful implementation and growth of Cboe Australia’s products and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with internal Cboe Australia business functions to manage Cboe Australia’s existing product portfolio and to develop new products and channels for growth
  • In collaboration with the Head of Sales, build customer relationships to translate client feedback into implementation of new Cboe products and services
  • Stay abreast of trends and developments in investment products, derivatives, equity trading, post-trade and associated technology and general market activity by actively monitoring customer trends, the competitive landscape, and regulatory developments to ensure ongoing competitiveness and effectiveness of Cboe
  • Maintain high levels of engagement across internal stakeholders, including but not limited to, Operations, Legal & Compliance, Finance & Technology teams, are informed of customer needs and expectations as they relate to product
  • In collaboration with the Head of Sales, perform and/or enable ad-hoc analysis of Cboe, its competitor and comparator markets as requested by clients
  • In collaboration with Cboe Australia’s President, Head of Sales, and Head of Finance, provide quarterly forecasts & annual budget for current and new product initiatives
  • Present pertinent information relating to product development to the Cboe Australia Board of Directors
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of Cboe’s operating rules, procedures, and ASIC market integrity rules
  • Develop and promote Cboe Australia’s competitive position in the market through considered thought leadership activity across a range of fronts including industry panels, customer meetings and industry publications
  • Work with Legal & Compliance to provide business perspective when they are advocating for Cboe with ASIC & industry bodies
  • Where appropriate, participate in industry groups, attend conferences and marketing events to promote Cboe
  • Ensure that appropriate CRM systems and business processes are maintained and updated on a regular basis
  • Input into the design and distribution of reporting on the Cboe markets to clients and internal management
  • Support the Cboe President in development of internal strategic and business-related content for use with global teams
  • Liaise with Product Development colleagues and senior management in other Cboe businesses, particularly Cboe Japan, Cboe Europe & North American Equities businesses to share knowledge of our products and services
  • Be a role model for Cboe Australia’s culture and values, nurturing and cultivating these principles across the Australian operations

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Years of Work Experience: 10
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Financial markets product development and ownership across equities, debt, derivatives and post trade
  • Experience dealing with customers directly, including account management and business development functions
  • Strong networking skills and established regional relationships
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Experience with the Australian business and regulatory environment, including dealings with Australian financial market participants
  • Strong working knowledge of cash equities microstructure, domestic and international
  • Solid working knowledge of derivatives microstructure
  • Solid working knowledge of post-trade environment for equities and derivatives
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint & Word skills
  • Excellent written and verbal (English) communications and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally
  • Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor Degree
