This is the perfect role for someone who is insatiably curious, obsessed with the user experience, data informed & results driven, and excited to dive into the quickly changing world of consumer social. As the Bluesky Head of Product, you’ll lead a tight-knit team in a fast-paced environment, balancing product innovation with the practicalities of protocol development.
Responsibilities:
- Drive our product vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with Bluesky’s mission and business goals
- Prioritize and plan product initiatives based on user needs, market trends, and business impact
- Oversee the full product lifecycle from ideation to launch
- Gather qualitative and quantitative data to identify user pain points and opportunities for growth
- Define and track key metrics, driving user acquisition and retention while exploring sustainable monetization opportunities for long-term growth
- Monitor the competitive landscape and position our product strategically
- Collaborate closely with engineering, design, community, and external parties
- Collaborate closely with the leadership team to align product roadmap with company vision and priorities
- Balance innovation with platform stability, protocol compatibility, and scalability needs
- Mentor and develop team members, building a high-performing product team
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a role leading product in consumer social or community platforms, minimum 8 years of industry experience
- Previous engineering experience and strong grasp on technical fundamentals
- A solid understanding of design principles, technical capabilities, and constraints
- Experience working on a small, scrappy team with limited resources
- Ability to prioritize and sequence work based on user impact and engineering complexity
- Demonstrated success in aligning product roadmaps with growth objectives
- Excellent communication & collaboration skills
- Data & results driven approach to problem-solving
- Experience with rapid prototyping, testing, and iterative development
- Enthusiasm about social technologies and a curiosity about emerging trends in consumer social
We’re a fully remote team, but an overlap of working hours with PST is required, and for this role, proximity and willingness to travel to Seattle is a plus. Additional Notes:
- The anticipated base salary range for this position is $175,000 – 200,000 USD excluding equity. Equity will be considered in the total compensation package. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.
