The role:
While believing that healthy food fuels stronger communities, we are looking for an energetic and innovative Food Safety Manager – Supplier Auditor within our Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) team.
The supplier auditor will oversee CookUnity’s (CU) extensive Food Safety and Product Quality audits throughout various food industry suppliers; retail, food service, and direct growers or processors/purveyors. Guarantee unwavering compliance with finished product quality standards among suppliers, following CookUnity’s dedication to delivering premium meals. This position is vital in equipping chefs with superior ingredients to craft outstanding culinary experiences for our clientele. The supplier auditor will promote and contribute to specialized initiatives that enhance CU’s supply chain program.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct Food Safety and Product Quality audits across various venues, including Food Service Operations, Manufacturing, and Food Distribution outlets.
- Perform ongoing risk assessments, develop corrective actions, and monitor the implementation and effectiveness of preventive measures.
- Develop and analyze supplier scorecards and reports to identify trends in distribution and co-manufacturing product complaints.
- Create a comprehensive external audit program tailored to CU’s operations, GFSI benchmarks and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular audits across all CU markets as assigned. Clearly communicate audit findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Organize and audit co-manufacturers’ and distributors’ quality assurance documentation. This includes reviewing annual GFSI audit reports, Open/Closed CARs, nutritional compliance, Certificates of Analysis (COAs), product specifications, allergen forms, and other product claims, as applicable.
- Maintain accurate supplier information in the supply chain portal, including supplier contacts and associated product codes.
- Collaborate with CookUnity Supplier teams, Chefs, internal FSQA teams, and the CX Teams to align supplier goals.
- Communicate directly with CU supplier teams and Individual CU Markets regarding Chef feedback, initiating CARs as necessary to facilitate root cause investigations and resolutions.
- Act as POC for all ingredient or product withdrawal / recall / traceability issues between supply source and place of manufacturing amongst CU facilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in food science or Applied Science field.
- At least three to five (3-5) years of work experience. A mixture of education and experience equivalent to the above may substitute.
- Experience auditing various USDA & FDA regulated facilities.
- Knowledge of HACCP, SSOP, GMP, GFSI schemes are essential.
- Diverse backgrounds of food manufacturing and kitchen services is a plus.
- Willing to travel up to 50%
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
- Valid Driver’s License with acceptable motorist history required.
- HACCP certified.
- Serve Safe Manager Certification is desired but not required.
- SQF or BRC Certification is a plus.
Preferred requirements:
- Must have excellent oral, written & presentation skills at a technical and general level.
- Must be able to effectively communicate throughout all levels of the business.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Preferred: Experience in culinary, food preparation, meat/protein processing, ready-to-eat foods, refrigerated foods, ready-to-heat foods.
- Nice to have: Bi-lingual (Spanish)

All final pay rates will be determined by candidates experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
Pay Range for this position
$70,000—$84,000 USD
