We are seeking a highly analytical, proactive, and results-oriented Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will be a pivotal player in shaping the growth and success of our social platform by owning the data lifecycle – from researching and implementing optimal data collection strategies to leveraging that data to drive user engagement, retention, and conversion. Your responsibilities will span from fine-tuning our content recommendation algorithms and building robust data pipelines to designing and analysing A/B tests and integrating Web3 (blockchain) data for deeper user understanding. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and marketing teams, providing them with actionable insights and data-driven strategies. Responsibilities:

  • Design and Implement Data Collection Strategies: Research, evaluate, and implement best-practice data collection mechanisms and relevant integrations across our applications (web, mobile) and third-party services. This includes defining event tracking, instrumenting applications, and ensuring data integrity from the source.

  • Build and Maintain Data Pipelines: Design, construct, install, test, and maintain highly scalable and reliable data management systems and ETL/ELT pipelines, originating from the data collection systems you help define and implement, to collect, process, store, and integrate user, application, and blockchain data.

  • Develop and Fine-Tune Content Recommendation Algorithms: Design, implement, and iteratively improve algorithms to personalise content discovery, utilising both off-chain and on-chain (Web3) user activity data.

  • User Data Analysis for Growth: Collect, analyse, and interpret large datasets to identify user trends, segmentation opportunities, and key drivers for user retention and conversion.

  • A/B Testing and Experimentation: Plan, design, execute, and statistically analyse A/B tests and other experiments in collaboration with product and marketing teams to optimise features, user flows, and campaigns for maximum impact on retention and conversion.

  • Marketing & Product Data Support: Provide data insights and build dashboards to support marketing campaign optimisation, product feature adoption, and overall growth strategies.

  • Data Integration: Design and implement integrations with various internal systems, third-party analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel, Amplitude, Google Analytics), marketing platforms, and blockchain data sources to create a unified and comprehensive view of user behaviour.

  • Data Quality and Governance: Implement processes and tools to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all data sources, including Web3 data.

  • Performance Monitoring and Optimisation: Monitor the performance of data systems, recommendation algorithms, and A/B tests, identifying and addressing bottlenecks or areas for improvement.

  • Reporting and Visualisation: Develop clear and insightful dashboards and reports to communicate key findings, experiment results, and data-driven recommendations to stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, growth analytics, or a related role.

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing data collection strategies, including event tracking instrumentation

  • Strong proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Python, Scala, Java).

  • Proven experience in planning, executing, and statistically analysing A/B tests and other experiments.

  • Experience with building and maintaining data pipelines (ETL/ELT processes).

  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis).

  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and experience in developing or fine-tuning recommendation systems.

  • Experience with data visualisation tools.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS), particularly their data services.

  • Understanding of data modelling, data structures, and data architecture.

  • Excellent analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and manage projects in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus Points (Highly Desirable):

  • Social media analytics experience

  • Blockchain experience

  • Experience with stream-processing systems (e.g., Kafka, Spark Streaming, Flink).

  • Experience with MLOps practices and tools.

  • Familiarity with A/B testing frameworks and methodologies.

  • Experience with specific recommendation algorithms (e.g., collaborative filtering, content-based filtering, hybrid models).

  • Experience integrating with marketing automation or analytics platforms.
