Parity is one of the world’s most experienced core blockchain infrastructure companies, having built and pioneered some of the most advanced technologies in the blockchain sector. Parity was founded by Dr. Gavin Wood, co-founder and former CTO of Ethereum, the primary engineer behind the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), inventor of the Solidity programming language, and primary author of the Ethereum “Yellow Paper”.

Based in Berlin, London, Zug and Lisbon, Parity has built clients for Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Zcash and has pioneered a completely new, next-generation blockchain protocol with Polkadot and the framework it’s built with, Substrate.

Parity is passionate about building the open-source technologies needed to power an unstoppable, decentralised web —known as Web3— and helps developers and organisations implement and build upon the Web3 tech stack.

People in our collective are:

  • Highly motivated to contribute to Parity’s mission and be part of something bigger

  • Excited to work on projects that are groundbreaking and complex

  • Autonomous, but also collaborate well with others

  • Take maximum accountability and have minimum ego at work

  • Comfortable with uncertainty and adapting to the ever-changing Web3 space

  • Continuously educating themselves about Parity and the wider Polkadot ecosystem

Parity is looking for an experienced, independent and self-starting Corporate Legal Counsel to join the Legal Team. Parity has an international group structure and in this new role, the Corporate Legal Counsel will have a particular focus on corporate law and take autonomous responsibility for corporate governance processes. The role will also offer the opportunity to expand into other areas of law in a tech and Web3 company.

The ideal candidate will have trained with a reputable law firm; gained some prior in-house experience within a fast-paced international organisation or start-up (either in a permanent role or during a secondment); have solid experience in corporate law and corporate governance; and be passionate about Web3, blockchain and crypto.

About the Position:

As part of a close-knit, diverse Legal team consisting of three Senior Lawyers and a Legal Support Specialist, the Corporate Legal Counsel provides proactive legal support to all areas of the business. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring optimal corporate organisation, delivering company secretarial and governance support to key legal entities and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory obligations

  • Overseeing a comprehensive corporate administration, including preparation of board resolutions, meeting minutes, and regulatory filings

  • Monitoring critical deadlines, coordinating legal workflows, and ensuring timely delivery of tasks.

  • Advising on shareholder matters, including delegation frameworks and internal governance requirements

  • Developing expertise and handling other legal matters as dictated by business needs including reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts and legal agreements

  • Providing accurate and timely advice to internal stakeholders, including senior management

  • Applying effective risk management techniques and proactively addressing potential legal issues

  • Communicating, negotiating, and managing relationships with external parties (e.g., service providers, partners, external counsel, or public authorities)

  • Managing complex matters with multiple stakeholders

  • Keeping up-to-date with industry and business-specific legislation and legal developments

About you:

  • You are a corporate lawyer with a minimum of 3+ PQE. You trained in private practice and already spent a minimum of 6 months in house in either a permanent role or in the form of a client secondment

  • You have strong knowledge and experience of corporate law in the UK and EU and are also interested in developing expertise in other areas of law

  • Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial software agreements and knowledge of IP, privacy and data protection are an advantage

  • You are experienced or interested in enhancing your efficiency with legal and project management tools such as Docusign, Asana and Legal AI

  • You are commercially aware, a strong communicator and calm under pressure

  • You are self-motivated, accountable and able to work independently. You take ownership and deliver on projects, and you are excited to work in a relatively new industry and an uncertain regulatory environment

  • Prior knowledge of blockchain would be an advantage, however an interest in and a desire to learn about blockchain, open source and decentralised systems will be the key to success in this role

About working for us:

  • Competitive remuneration packages based on iterative market research, including tokens (where legally permissible)

  • “Future of work” environment that’s remote-first and self-initiating with flexible working hours

  • Team mates that are genuinely excited about their impact and projects

  • Access to the brightest minds in this space to learn about Web3 and develop your skills and knowledge whilst on the job

  • Becoming part of the wider ecosystem (career and networking opportunities)

  • Team and company-wide retreats

Those joining our collective as an employee in Germany, Portugal, and the U.K. also enjoy benefits such as health care, parental leave, PTO (28 days per year) and local team events.

Parity is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We welcome diversity in our global team and care about everyone in our collective feeling included and welcome.
