The role

We’re hiring a full-time Compliance Coordinator to join our fast-growing team of builders and innovators. As the pioneer member of the Compliance function, you’ll be instrumental in shaping and executing our legal and regulatory strategy.

This role is ideal for a compliance professional with deep expertise in operational compliance that includes KYC, onboarding, AML screening, transaction monitoring, and data protection. You’ll play a critical role in supporting our growth while ensuring we uphold the highest standards in regulatory and financial crime compliance.

We are excited to know you if you can:

  • Support the development and execution of a compliance strategy that aligns with the overall business objectives and growth trajectory. This includes assisting with the acquisition and maintenance of requisite licenses across different markets.
  • Monitor evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices in emerging markets, particularly in financial technology and cross-border payments/transfers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate compliance measures into product development, operations, and expansion initiatives.
  • Assist in maintaining a robust compliance framework by supporting the creation and implementation of policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate risks such as money laundering, fraud, and data privacy concerns.
  • Conduct internal audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of compliance measures and identify areas for improvement.
  • Liaise with external regulatory bodies, legal advisors, and partners to ensure up-to-date knowledge of compliance requirements and build strong networks of support.
  • Help resolve compliance-related issues and incidents by implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting compliance reports to relevant authorities as required by applicable laws and regulations.

You might be a good fit if you have:

  • At least 3 years of experience working within a FinTech with a minimum of 2 years of compliance experience with a reputable company with exposure to emerging markets.
  • Extensive knowledge of regional compliance regulations, especially within emerging markets, and the ability to adapt strategies to various jurisdictions.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess complex regulatory issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance compliance requirements with business objectives, driving innovation while maintaining a strong ethical foundation.
  • Experience in managing compliance audits and inspections, as well as the ability to lead responses to regulatory enquiries.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and organisational skills.
  • Adaptable and proactive approach to navigating a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good proficiency in conducting risk assessments, periodic/trigger reviews, and enhanced due diligence
  • Proficiency in compliance applications and programmes;
  • Good knowledge of national and international AML/CFT legislation
  • Relevant compliance qualifications, ACAMS/ACOI/ICA (a strong plus)
  • Knowledge of compliance tools like chain analytics, transaction monitoring, and chain forensics will be a plus
