About the role

As our CTO, you will be responsible for leading the technical & technological development of our platform from ideation to launch and beyond. You will be responsible for scaling our product into more verticals and markets. You will work closely with our product team to build a robust, scalable, and secure platform that is easy to use and accessible to our target market. You will have excellent project management skills and be motivated to achieve results in a competitive environment. You will add value to the company operations and processes by understanding the needs of the business and translate them into best of class technology solutions to meet the needs of our Clients / Investors / Founders. This role is based in Douala, Cameroon.

Responsibilities

Technology Strategy: Develop and communicate the company’s technology strategy & roadmap, aligning it with the business objectives and market demands. Evaluate and implement new systems and infrastructure. Ensure technologies are used efficiently, profitably and securely

Blockchain Technology Leadership: Stay abreast of the latest developments in blockchain technology and provide guidance on the selection of appropriate blockchain platforms and tools. Drive research and development initiatives in blockchain technology, DeFi (Decentralized Finance), and emerging crypto trends.

Product Development: Contribute to the development of company products (both blockchain-based products and services and others), from concept to deployment, ensuring they meet market needs and quality standards.

Technology Stack: Define the technology stack and architecture for Ejara blockchain solutions, making informed decisions on blockchain platforms, consensus algorithms, and smart contract languages.

Project Management: Acting as first PMO on cross-functional projects. Being able to use make use of the necessary project management techniques to ensure Tech and other cross-functional projects meet the organizational objectives. Make sure that Project Management best practices are integrated in the workflow processes and habits of the tech unit. Manage IT projects to ensure successful delivery (on-time, within budget, meeting/exceeding agreed upon success criteria) by establishing clear goals and accountabilities

Team Management: Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing technical team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Team performance: Ensure IT application development process disciplines (solution delivery, project management, work requests, QA) and standards are established, effectively managed and performed. Create and oversee high-level KPIs for IT department

Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business development, marketing, and operations, to align technology efforts with business objectives and customer needs.

Leadership and accountability: Serve on the executive committee to align technology goals to other departmental and organizational objectives. Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation.

You will report directly to the CEO.

About You

Previous experience as a CTO, ideally at a startup (blockchain-focused company) or fast-growing technology company

Knowledge of blockchain and decentralized technologies (including but limited to including public and private blockchains, consensus algorithms, smart contracts, and cryptographic principles)

Strong programming and software development skills, with experience in languages commonly used in blockchain development (e.g., Solidity, Rust, Go) as a plus.

Experience building and scaling technology teams.

10+ years of experience in IT management

Demonstrated successful management of technology, process, and operational implementations

Deep understanding of security protocols and best practices in the blockchain space.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Organization and time-management skills

Knowledge of latest technological advances that could benefit company

Knowledge of all functions and roles within IT department

Knowledge of best information security practices

Excellent leadership skills

Ability to meet deadlines under pressure

Bilingual French and English
