Blackbird is looking for a Business Development Representative (BDR) who will be responsible for identifying, prospecting, and qualifying the best local restaurants to bring onto the Blackbird platform. As a BDR, you’ll own the top of the funnel — working on everything from sourcing leads to outreach and messaging to being the first line of communication to restaurants, developing stellar relationships across the industry, and hitting Blackbird’s ambitious quarterly and yearly new restaurant acquisition goals.
The ideal candidate for this role has 1–3 years of experience in a BDR or SDR role, a proven track record of crushing sales quotas, the hustle and grit to thrive in a high-activity outbound environment, and a genuine hunger to grow into a full-cycle Account Executive.
Identify and source qualified leads to bring the best restaurants in the world onto the Blackbird platform.
Complete at least 100 high-quality outreach activities daily — cold calls, emails, social touches, and door knocks.
Host qualification calls to develop an understanding of each prospect’s needs and determine how they can benefit from partnering with Blackbird.
Schedule meetings for qualified prospects, ensuring a seamless handoff to the appropriate Account Executive.
Build and maintain a self-sourced pipeline alongside assigned leads.
Develop deep knowledge of the NYC restaurant scene and use it to prospect with relevance and credibility.
Collaborate closely with Account Executives on handoff quality and feedback loops.
1–3 years of experience in a BDR, SDR, or similar outbound sales role.
Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas and activity targets.
High-activity mindset — comfortable making 100+ touches per day and thriving on volume.
Resilience and grit — rejection fuels you, not rattles you. You know how to push through tough prospecting days.
Coachability — you actively seek feedback, apply it immediately, and are always looking to sharpen your craft.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills — clear, confident, and persuasive on the phone, over email, and in person.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high daily activity without letting details slip.
Ambition to grow into a full-cycle Account Executive role.
Experience with field sales or in-person prospecting (door-knocking, events, etc.).
A genuine connection to the NYC restaurant or hospitality scene — whether you’ve worked in restaurants, are a passionate diner, or deeply understand the industry.
Experience selling a disruptive or category-defining product in SMB tech sales.
Background in competitive environments — college athletics, sales competitions, or high-performance teams.
Competitive Compensation & Equity Target annual salary range: $55,000-65,000 OTE USD (varies by experience). Disclosure in accordance with New York City’s Pay Transparency Law.
